Tagoe’s opponent pulls out he now faces South African for the IBO title

TagoeGhana’s world title hopeful, Emmanuel “Game Boy” Tagoe, will face a different opponent after David Fernando Saucedo pulled out of the upcoming fight due to injury.

The Game Boy would now face South African Mzonke Fana in the IBO World lightweight title bout scheduled for December 2 at the Bukom Arena in Accra.

The Argentine, Saucedo, suffered an injury setback while training ahead of the bout which caused the postponement from November 25 to December 2.

But the nagging injury would not permit the boxer to make it on time for Friday’s encounter, prompting organisers to look for another equally formidable opponent to face the Ghanaian.

Fana is expected to arrive at the Kotoka International Airport tonight to acclimatise for the bout and expected to give the Ghanaian a good fight.

The experienced 43-year-old Fana known as “The Rose of Khayelitsha” defeated Malcolm Klassen for the IBF World Junior lightweight title in 2007.

He has also engaged in several fights including a WBO international lightweight title with Paulus Moses and EdisTatli for the WBA Inter-continental lightweight title.

However, reports indicate that Tagoe is geared up for his opponent and unperturbed by the change as he prepares to clinch the world title for Ghana.
