T.P Mazembe For Otumfou’s Anniv.

AdjeiDR Congo giants TP Mazembe have accepted to play Asante Kotoko in an exhibition to mark the 15th anniversary of Ashanti King Otumfuo Osei Tutu II who is life patron of the Ghanaian club.

Two former Kotoko players-Yaw Frimpong and Daniel Nii Adjei-are in the books of the Ravens and will be delighted to make a return to the Baba Yara.

Details for the match remain sketchy.

“TP Mazembe have accepted the invitation,” TP Mazembe’s country representative Nana Oduro Sarfo told New Mercury FM.

“The club find it honoured to be invited from among all the big clubs in Africa by His majesty Otumfuo.”

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was installed Asantehene in 1999 after the death of Otumfuo Opoku Ware II.

Meanwhile, Kotoko coach Mas-Ud Dramani has condemned AshantiGold for not turning up for the MTN FA quarter-final match on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors were given three points and three goals without kicking a ball following AshGold’s failure to turn up at Accra Sports Stadium.

The Obuasi-based side claimed they were not prepared to travel to the capital to face the defending league champions after the match was moved from Kumasi due to a Baba Yara Stadium ban.

“ I least expected them to do such a thing. I think it’s very bad for our football,” Dramani said.

“Such boycotting used to happen in 80’s not at this modern age.

“The fans were disappointed. The weather was good for football even the pitch. But its unfortunate that a club like AshantiGold refused to turn up.”

*Coach Herbert Addo has praised his side’s resilience after defeating Hasaacas to reach the semi-final of the 2014 MTN Ghana FA Cup.

The Tema-based side are struggling to escape relegation but are in top form in the cup competition.

Sherrif Mohammed’s first half header from a corner made all the difference as Inter Allies ensured their hopes of winning a trophy this season were kept alive.

Addo says the spirit in camp is responsible for their resurgence.

“I expected a good game and Hasaacas gave us one,” Addo said to GHANAsoccernet.com

“They are a very good team who are doing well in the league and they showed us they were really pumped out for this.

“The fact that we were able to win today shows how good spirits are in camp and whenever the feeling is this way the results is always good.
