Swearing-in of KMA govt appointees called off

hajiaa alimaThe Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has called off the swearing-in of newly appointed government appointees of the assembly by President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

These 44-assembly members will make up the constitutional 30 per cent government appointees to the assembly.

The president last week revoked the appointments of all government appointed assembly members, including the presiding member, following the amendment of the local government act.

Monday’s swearing-in ceremony was to be followed by processes to appoint two members as delegates to represent the assembly in the election of Council of State membership for the Ashanti Region.

However, the Public Relations Officer for the KMA, Godwin Okuma Nyame, has told Ultimate News the meeting could come off because the assembly had not yet received the full list of the government appointees.
