Suspects arrested for alleged robbery, possession of ‘wee’

Three suspects have been arrested for alleged robbery and possession of India hemp by the Police at Kasoa, in the Awutu Senya East municipality, in the Central Region, last Thursday.

Eric Biney,24, also known as (aka) Abbey, unemployed, was said to have robbed a couple and raped his wife whilst Prince Otoo, 21, Kweku Boadi, 33, both drug peddlers, were in possession of Indian hemp.

The drug peddlers were arrested by the police during an operation.

The Crime Officer of the Kasoa District Police Command, Asistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Charles Obiri-Yeboah, disclosed these to theGhanaian Times in Accra yesterday.

He said on March 7, the District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police(C/Supt) Ali Damashie, and the Divisional Commander C/Supt Charles Adu, led personnel in an anti-robbery and narcotics operations, leading to the arrest of the suspects.

The Crime Officer said the suspects were among sixteen persons arrested during the operation.

ASP Obiri-Yeboah said Biney and two other accomplices, one Gawu and Emmanuel alias ‘I will kill you’, who were on the run, and are being sought by the police, on March 5,attacked a couple at the Kasoa New Market, raped the complainant’s wife (name withheld) and robbed them of an unspecified amount of money and a Techno mobile phone.

He said the police arrested Biney and the mobile phone taken from the couple was found on him.

ASP Obiri-Yeboah said Otoo was arrested with 71 wraps of Indian hemp and quantities of unwrapped dried leaves.

He said suspect, Kweku Boadi, was arrested, in possession of 150 wrappers and quantities of unwrapped leaves of cannabis.

The Crime Officer said the suspects have since been remanded by the Kasoa Circuit Court and will reappear on March 22. 

He said the other 13 suspects have been screened and released after no evidence was found against them.
