Residents of Teshie, a suburb of Accra, were thrown into a state of shock when a suspected commercial sex worker was found murdered in cold blood in her room.

The deceased, identified only as Chioma, a Nigerian, and believed to be in her 30s, was found dead  in a pool of blood with knife wounds all over her body.

A note that read, “You gave me HIV so die” has been retrieved by police personnel from the crime scene.

The Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Efia Tenge, confirmed the incident to The Ghanaian Times.

She said the police upon receiving a distress call proceeded to the house of the deceased at Nkomefa, near the Methodist Church, Teshie-Tafo, and retrieved the body.

ASP Tenge said the deceased was virtually naked except for a wrap cloth around her waist with several knife wounds all over her body, and used condoms were found scattered all over the room.

She said investigation has commenced, and urged residents of Teshie to assist the police with information that can lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of the crime.

ASP Tenge said the body has been conveyed to the Police Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
