A suspected armed robber was shot dead during an exchange of fire with the police, at Pantang near Adenta of Greater Accra Region, last Sunday.

The body of the deceased identified as “School boy”, has been deposited sent to the Police Hospital mortuary for autopsy, and another suspect, identified as Obina, is on the run and been sought by the Police.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge, confirmed to the Ghanaian Times, in Accra yesterday.

She said on July 15, at about 9pm, the police received information that two suspects, Obina and ‘School boy’, planned to attack and rob a house at Pantang.

DSP Tenge said the police chased the suspects to the Goil Filling Station at Pantang Junction.

She said in an attempt to apprehend the suspects, they opened fire at the police, and the police returned fire resulting in the death of school boy.

DSP Tenge said Obina escaped, and a search on the deceased revealed one locally made single barrel gun loaded with one BB cartridge and four extra BB cartridges.

She urged the public to volunteer information to the police for the arrest of Obina.
