The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Jirapa in the Upper West Region, Christine Bomannye Amadu, has urged chiefs and opinion leaders in the municipality to support government to bring the needed development to the area.

According to her, “although the area has over the years been dominated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during elections, the people are unable to get their share of the national cake anytime the party is in power.”

Madam Adam was speaking at a sod-cutting ceremony at Ullo to commence the construction of nine infrastructure projects in the municipality.

The projects include Community Health-based Planning Services (CHPS) compound and nurses quarters at Deriyiri, 10-seater water closet toilet at Han Market, borehole at Ping, construction of two unit nurses quarters, extension of CHPS at Tampaala, a 10-seater water closet toilet at Jirapa Senior High School (SHS) and a three-unit classroom block at Ullo Islamic Junior High School (JHS).

The projects, which are expected to be completed within four months, are being funded by the District Development Facility (DDF), with GHc100000.

Madam Amadu noted that “the projects form part of the government’s agenda to provide infrastructure development to the area adding that “the projects will go a long way to improve service delivery to the municipality.

“Education and health are the priorities of government which is committed to make the two service areas more accessible, I appeal to beneficiary communities to give the needed support to the contractors to enable them to complete the projects on schedule,” she said.

Naa Alhaji Baburonon Amadu Seidu II, Paramount Chief of the Ullo Traditional area, commended the MCE for working assiduously to bring the needed development to the area adding that “we have seen many MCEs, but you are different, since you came we have benefited from a number of projects and grateful to the government”.

Alhassan Suleimana, the Chief Executive Officer of Half Moon Limited, one of the contractors on the project assured the communities of quality work and completing projects on schedule which will not be an exception.” –
