THE Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, Kwasi Oppong Ababio, has been granted self-cognisance bail of GH¢10,000 by the Sunyani Magistrate’s Court.
The MCE incurred the wrath of the court after he failed to honour a summon issued on him on May 13 2014 to appear before it.
He was arrested on Monday, August, 17 on a bench warrant and hauled before the court on Tuesday. He would report again on August 24.
A Sunyani-based farmer, Raphael Kubadze, on May, 13, 2014 took the Sunyani Municipal Assembly to court for what he described as “wrongful arrest and detention” of his vehicle, with registration number BA 1837-13 by the Assembly’s towing services.
The plaintiff claimed the assembly detained the car for six hours, and also fined him GH¢100 before releasing the car.
Mr. Kubadze is seeking damages, as well as an interest on the fine.
The court, therefore, invited the MCE to testify before it, which he refused to do, leading to his arrest.
