Sudanese Club Reaches Deal With Appiah

kwesi appiahFORMER Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah is reported to have agreed in principle to coach Sudanese Club, Khartoum Watan after his two-day inspection of the team’s facilities came to an end yesterday, reports sportscrusader.com.

Reports say Appiah was overwhelmed with the facilities of the Sudanese club and will sign a two-year lucrative contract before returning today.

The stakes will be high for the former Black Stars captain, when he takes over the dug-out of the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup campaigners.

An aide to Kwesi Appiah confirmed on condition of anonymity that Appiah will sign for the Sudanese club after a successful intial talk with the Directors of the club.

“Kwesi will sign for the Club because he is happy with the facilities and the future of the club, they want to be successful in Africa and become one of the best also in the world and that is why they are going for one of the best we have in Africa.”

“Appiah is happy he is returning to club football after his stints with the Black Stars.

He will return on today before going back to the team for their campaign.

In another development,owner and bankroller of Kumasi-based King Faisal, Alhaji Karim Gruzah has opposed the appointment of Avram Grant as the head coach of the Black Stars claiming he would like the FA to hire Italian manager Massimo Morales.

Grant, a former Chelsea boss is on the verge of being named to fill up the vacant post at the senior national team after the Nations football governing body confirmed him as the preferred candidate for the job.

But the outspoken football administrator who is currently settling issues with the FA in court says he would rather recommend former King Faisal coach Massimo Morales to take up the top job.

“Me I do not support the coach who is said to be the former coach of Chelsea. But to me he is sacked from Chelsea because of performance and he is here,” Gruzah disclosed to Starr Fm.

“Maybe he can do his best but if it’s me I will recommend President Massimo Morales. I know him personally, he coached King Faisal between 1995 and 1996 but he had an accident”.

Morales was the assistant coach for the Black Stars between 1998 and 1999. He also assistant Giovanni Trapattoni at German side Bayern Munich between 1995 and 1995.
