Student remanded for defiling 8-year-old girl

A   20-year-old student was remanded into police custody by an Accra Circuit Court for defiling an eight-year-old girl.
The accused, David Mensah, who pleaded not guilty, lives in the same vicinity, with the family of the victim, at Nungua-Buade, in Accra.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbere, said the complainant, Lydia Abeka, mother of the victim, told the Police that on Febuary 27, this year, she detected  changes in how her daughter walked.
The prosecutor said, the mother indicated that upon interrogations, she realized at the accused had sex with her child.
Chief Inspector Atimbere told the court presided by Mrs.Abena Oppong Adjin -Doku that a complaint was lodged at  Nungua Police Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit at Nungua and a medical form was issued for the victim to be sent to hospital for treatment.
The court ordered parents of the accused to make available his birth certificate at the next court hearing on March 27.
