The North Walsham High School in the United Kingdom, has presented 140 mathematical sets worth GH¢8,000.00 to the Street Academy, a sports and culture centre in Accra.
The items formed part of the school efforts to assist their colleagues in Africa.
Ms. Teresa Gascoyne, Director of Teaching and Learning of the school said students of her class contributed a pound each to purchase the mathematical sets to support teaching and learning for the street Academy.
She said apart from providing the items, she personally assists in developing curriculum for the street academy.
According to Ms Gascoyne, her assistance is to ensure that pupil’s curriculum is not overloaded.
She intimated that North Walsham High School intends to raise funds to support Street Academy procure a bus.
Street Academy is also credited for the development of a number of sports men including boxers Malik Jabir and Joseph Agbeko, the latter rising to become a world champion.
Ataa Lartey, Executive Director of the Street Academy commended the school for the initiative, adding that the presentation is going to strengthen the relationship that exists between Street Academy and North Walsham School in the UK.
According to Ataa Lartey he is also looking forward to tap into the rich experience of the North Walsham High School in the building of the Street Academy curriculum while urging other institutions to support the Academy to meet its target.
