Ghana Premier League (GPL) broadcast rights holders; StarTimes has launched a new channel – Adepa TV, to provide local content to its sports viewership.


The 24-hour channel is packaged to meet demands of homegrown viewers with commentaries in Twi and is available on the StarTimes decoder and the app.


Launching it, the Head of Marketing at StarTimes Ghana, Ms Akrofa Djankui, said it would be a one-stop channel for all activities on the local scene.


“As Africa’s fastest growing pay satellite television platform, StarTimes is aiming at promoting Ghanaian content. We appreciate the fact that Ghanaians love local contents and watching indigenous talents and adding this new channel speaks to those desires.”


Ms Djankui announced that StarTimes would provide a platform for Ghanaian filmmakers and indigenous artists as well to present their content to Ghanaians and the rest of Africa all in a bid to add a lot more Ghanaian content to their subscribers.


StarTimes Group, in 2016 signed a ground-breaking media agreement with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) worth US$17,950,000 to promote the Ghana Premier League in sub-Saharan Africa.


According to the strategic partnership agreement, StarTimes would have all media rights of the Ghana Premier League, the Gala, the National Division One League, the MTN FA Cup, the Ghana Women’s League and the Ghana Juvenile League.
