Stars take on Congo today

gyanGHANA’s Black Stars will test the strength of Congo in a special friendly in the capital of Brazzaville this evening.

Today’s game will serve as a dress rehearsal ahead of Saturday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda.

The occasion will also be used to open the country’s new stadium which serves as one of the venues for the hosting of the All Africa Games.

The team’s first delegation arrived in Congo on Sunday night ahead of the crucial match against the Wasps in Kigali.

The Ghana-based delegation including the coaching staff and some home-based players travelled with the team from Accra on Sunday afternoon and reached Brazzaville late in the evening.

Captain Asamoah Gyan, goalkeepers Fatau Dauda and Richard Ofori were part of the delegation that travelled from Accra to Abidjan before connecting the flight to Brazzaville.

Coach Avram Grant’s technical team assisted by Maxwell Konadu as well as all of the backroom staff travelled with the team that includes management committee chairman George Afriyie.

The Stars will stay in Brazzaville until they travel to Kigali on Thursday night.
