Stars leave Spain for Eq. Guinea today

Skpp1GHANA will leave their camping base in Seville, Spain tomorrow night and head to Equatorial Guinea for the start of the Nations Cup.

Head coach Avram Grant and his charges are expected to have camped for ten days by that time.

They are expected to arrive at their base in Mongomo tomorrow, four days before their Group C opener against Senegal.

Ghana played against Dutch Eredivise side SC Camburr and Portuguese second-tier side Olhanense in pre-tournament friendlies.

Black Stars will also play Algeria on 23 January and South Africa four days later.

Meanwhile, Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi has visited the Black Stars camp in Seville before leaving for Equatorial Guinea to work for CAF.

Nyantakyi is a member of CAF’s organizing committee for the Africa Cup of Nations.

He will be assigned as a venue co-ordinator when he joins his colleagues in the oil-rich

In another development, the Ghana Football Association has asked Black Stars mid-fielder Afriyie Acquah to instruct his wife Amanda Acquah to cease fire regarding her recorded tape which is causing unease in the Stars’ camp in Spain.

This was confirmed by the Vice Chairman of the Black Stars of Ghana, Cudjoe Fianoo in an exclusive interview.

According to Cudjoe Fianoo, the tape has gone viral and reached the Stars’ camp in Spain.

He said the vulgar words used by Amanda could potentially ruin the team’s concentration as they gear up for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

Captain of the side Asamoah Gyan was named on the tape for allegedly having a fling with the current fiancée of Kenpong, Muna, alias Hajia.

The accusation according to Cudjoe Fianoo is damning and could distort the team’s preparations towards the AFCON.

“It is true that the Ghana Football Association has spoken to Afriyie Acquah to speak to his wife over this issue”.

“The tape has reached the camp and it is not healthy at all; this is shameful and it could lead to something else, because some of the current player’s names were mentioned and we don’t want that to happen again so we have instructed him to speak to his wife for future reasons”.
