Stars Fail To Show Up For Post-Match Press Conference

Germany v Ghana: Group G - 2014 FIFA World Cup BrazilPLAYERS and officials of the national team failed to turn up for a mandatory post-match post conference following their disappointing display in a lucky 1-1 draw against the Cranes of Uganda in Kumasi on Saturday afternoon.

Media men who covered the game at the Baba Yara Stadium waited patiently in the stadium’s press room for their opportunity to grill which official and player they were at least guaranteed to appear at the press conference but it was never to be.

First, after waiting for close to an hour, journalists were informed Uganda coach, Milutin Sredojevic and his side’s captain would be first to answer questions about the Africa Nations’ Cup qualifier before the Ghana team take their turn.

Ever patient journalists posed all the questions for an obviously very satisfied Sredojevic who nevertheless was adamant the Black Stars didn’t deserve to earn the penalty from which they netted the crucial equaliser.

So it came to pass that Sredojevic’s press time elapsed and the countdown began to the appearance of team Ghana’s representatives.

But then came the bombshell that due to security and other circumstances beyond their control, the Communications department of the Ghana Football Association begged that they could not appear at the presser, instead it was announced that they woudl find a time between morning to evening yesterday to hold a formal press conference to address all issues relating to the match.

With preparations for the next qualifier away to neighbours, Togo set to begin immediately, the GFA also failed to state the venue and time for tomorrow’s supposed press conference.
