A STARBOW flight yesterday, overshot its runway after landing at the Tamale Airport.
Reports indicate that the Accra-Tamale-bound aircraft had problems after landing, causing it to crash through a barricade mounted on the runway.
There was no casualty.
According to an eyewitness, the front tyres of the S9110 plane en-route from Accra to Tamale, broke into the cockpit.
The National Security, Armed Forces, Airport Security and the Fire Service arrived moments at the airport to investigate the incident.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of Starbow, Mr James Eric Antwi, in a statement said the plane had landed before it bumped into a ramp.
It described the incident as “minor”.
“Starbow’s BAe aircraft with registration 9GSBB went through the barricade at the end of the Tamale runway and stopped. It is noteworthy that, both the crew and the passengers were disembarked safely via the stairs,” the statement said.
“Our sincere concern goes out to all of the passengers, friends and families involved. We are still gathering the facts concerning the event. Starbow is cooperating fully with the Authorities in charge,” it added.
The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has begun investigations into the incident.
