Victor Selasi, 36, a staff of Standard Chartered Bank in Accra, met his untimely death on Republic Day, when he got drowned in the Boti River in the Yilo Krobo municipality of the Eastern Region.
The body has since been deposited at the Koforidua Government Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
Selasi was said to be among the Republic Holiday revellers and had travelled with members of his church, Christian Service, and his family from East Legon in the Greater Accra Region, to have fun at the Boti Falls.
While swimming, he got drowned in the Boti River and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on the arrival.
The Acting Director of the Koforidua Regional Hospital, Dr. Cardinal Newton, confirmed the incident to The Ghanaian Times yesterday.
The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nketia Yeboah, also told The Ghanaian Times that the incident occurred in the late hours of Wednesday, when Selasi, together with his church members were swimming at the Boti Falls.
He said the New Juaben Municipal Police Command was investigating the incident.
