Stanbic Donates To Ghana Sports

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASTANBIC Bank Ghana has presented an amount of GH¢130,000 to the Ministry of Youth and Sports towards Ghana’s preparations   to the World Cup and the Commonwealth Games in Brazil and Glasgow on Monday.

Out of the amount, GH¢100,000 was to help with the preparations towards the upcoming World Cup in Brazil while GH¢ 30,000 was for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Head of Marketing and Communications at the Bank Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu said his outfit was supporting sport because of the love Ghanaians have for the game.

According to Mr. Afadzinu the bank supports football as well as other sporting disciplines in the country.

“In barely a month, all of Ghana will stand still in expectation as the Black Stars takes on the rest of the world and we are happy to support Ghana,” Mr. Afadzinu said.

The Minister of Youth and Sports said government has done its bid in terms of on-field preparations but due to the current economic challenges, government is facing difficulties as far as funding of supporters to Brazil is concerned.

According to the Minister, Stanbic bank’s intervention was timely because it will help send a core group of supporters to the World Cup.

Mr. Afriyie- Ankrah said the supporters would carry the spirit of Ghana to cheer on the Stars to victory in Brazil.

He said that he was confident Ghana will go beyond the qualifying stage adding that the ministry will call on the bank at that stage.

According to the Minister, during the World Cup, his outfit will create fun parks for Ghanaians who would not be able to make it to Brazil to enable them have a feel of the tournament in Ghana.

He called on corporate Ghana to come on board to help send some supporters to Brazil to cheer on the Black Stars.
