Stanbic Bank Opens Data Centre

stabic pixIn line with Stanbic Bank Ghana’s quest to provide efficient services and strategic growth plan it has opened a new Tier 3 Data Centre in Accra.

The centre is expected to enhance the availability, integrity and confidentiality of the bank’s ICT assets, enabling access to a high quality data centre and the use of complementary technologies which supports the bank’s normal operations, growth strategy and business continuity needs.

Speaking at the opening of the centre on Friday, Mr. Alhassan Andani, Managing Director of the bank, said the opening of the centre was a strong statement that the bank was here for the long haul.

He said the investment did not come cheap but it was a demonstration of the bank that customer satisfaction was very important to the bank.

The facility, he said would ensure that the bank’s services to customers would not be interrupted.

“This new state-of-the-art facility is resilient as it provides high-availability for all systems, thereby eliminating single points of failure. Additionally, it is designed to offer predictable uptime by incorporating fault-tolerance against hardware failures using proven fault-tolerance hardware from reputable manufacturers,” he said.

Mr. Franklin Belnye, Head of Banking Supervision, Bank of Ghana, said the opening of the centre was a clear testimony of the bank’s confidence in the Ghanaian economy.

He described the investment in the centre as very huge and urged service providers to ensure that the facility work to perfection.

Mr. Emmanuel Martey, Head of IT, Stanbic Bank, said the centre was equipped with industry standard power, cooling systems and environmental monitoring systems.

“We are assured of the stability of our systems as a centralised and standardised technology and the process is deployed to establish compliance with industry best practices. Again this would minimise business disruptions with energy-smart, mission- critical facilities,” he said.

The facility, Mr. Martey, said was built to accommodate predictable growth need coming from additional network, and hardware virtualisation technology for new business demand.

On security he said the implementation of a fully managed Tier 3 ensures very high standard building structures, security surveillance and full access control management.  By David Adadevoh
