THE Public Relations Manager of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Francis Asamoah Tuffour and his family on Thursday donated a grotto to the St Paul’s Catholic Church at Kpehe, a suburb of Accra.
He had also planted a sycamore tree which he said he brought from Israel during a visit to the Holy Land.
The donation, according to Mr Tuffour was to help the church get closer to the Virgin Mary through prayers.
He said the decision to build the grotto was as a result of a constant prayer he made to God,
He said he saw the Virgin Mary during one of his midnight prayers and there he realised that, God wanted him to build a grotto for the church.
The Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra Diocese, Most Rev John Bonaventure Kwofie who dedicated the place and also led mass to climax the rosary month said nothing surpasses an act of charity and to help members of the church have a place of prayer.
He said the grotto reminds the church of the closeness of Virgin Mary to the church and urged everyone to make it a prayer place.
Archbishop Kwofie said end of the rosary month did not mean an end to prayer rather it was the beginning of a close relationship with the Virgin Mary.
He said the month of October was also declared as the extraordinary mission month with the aim of delving deeper into their roles as Catholics.
“It is also to reactivate the grace given to us through our mission and through evangelism as written in Matthew 28:19 and 20,” the Archbishop stated.
Archbishop Kwofie said to be a Christian is to be a witness and manifest the love of God adding that “if we fail in this we have failed on our mandate as Christians.”
He urged the members to eschew all forms of injustices and acts that rob others of their dignity.
He prayed for the Tuffour family and asked the members to support the church with their strength and resources.
