A children’s playground has been constructed for pupils of St. Dominic Savior Catholic School Community at Afienya in the Dangme West district of the Greater Accra Region.
The playground which has recreational facilities such as a swing, slide, seasaw, “merry go round” was jointly sponsored by some eight couples from Benin, Cameroun and Cote D’Ivoire.
The couples also built a two-bed infirmary and washrooms for the school.
At a ceremony to commission the project, the donors said they were motivated by their associate in Ghana, Rev. Fr. Samuel Korkordi, the local manager of the school to undertake the project for the benefit of the children.
They were hopeful the facilities would aid in smooth teaching and learning.
On his part, Rev. Fr. Korkordi said the school remains a good performing government-assisted school in the Dangme West District as it served as a model school for the community.
However, the lack of those facilities impeded its growth, describing the donation as timely.
Rev. Fr. Korkordi said the new facilities will engage these children to play in a more clean and healthy environment.
The eight couples are Mr & Mrs Talla Nzussouo, Mr & Mrs Nana, Mr & Mrs Luc Armand Bodea, Mr & Mrs Kemgne, Mr & Mrs Tene, Mr & Mrs Amany, Mr & Mrs Dabire and Mr & Mrs Tambang.
