St. Augustines Launches 85th Anniversary Celebration

St. Augustine’s College, at Cape Coast has launched its 85th anniversary celebrations with the theme “21st century education-the age of innovation and transformation” at a ceremony in Accra.

The activities marking this year’s anniversary include a mentoring session which was held two weeks ago, a fund- raising ceremony to solicit for support in rehabilitating some school facilities in November and a Speech and Prize Giving Day to be held in March, next year .

A seminar for students would also be organised in February 2015, with a quiz competition on the national television to explain the theme and educate students on the importance of innovation and technology in this era.

Launching the anniversary on Thursday, the headmaster, Mr. Joseph Connel called on all alumni to help build and maintain the legacy of the school.

He said it was time for the alumni to come together to help in the development of the school by partnering with management and authorities of the school.

According to him, the alumni plays a major role in sustaining the school’s legacy and should support in the re-branding of the school.

Mr. Connel appreciated the efforts of the 1990 year group of St Augustine’s College Past Students Union (APSU 90) for their tremendous support towards the anniversary and their quest to rehabilitate the Geography block.

He said the school has, over the years trained its students to be morally disciplined and hardworking in whichever endeavour they found themselves.

An alumnus of the school, Mr. Michael Kwaku Amankwa challenged his fellows to work hard to project the image and legacy of the school.

He said a remarkable success in all endeavours begins with a dream and therefore urged the alumni to dream and work progressively towards their dreams
