SSNIT supports Sanitation Day exercise with tools

With them are officials of the Ministry and SSNIT (2)The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), on Friday donated assorted tools to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development in support of the National Sanitation Day programme.

The Items made up of 220 pairs of handgloves, iron shovels, wheelbarrows, rakes, Wellington boots and long brooms were valued at GH¢43,120.

Evangeline Amegashie, Corporate Affairs Manager of SSNIT, presented the items on behalf of the organisation.

She said the Trust was aware that cleanliness promotes good health, and deemed it necessary to support the Ministry in the monthly exercise.

Mr Julius Debrah, the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development who received the items, commemded SSNIT for the gesture.

He noted that the exercise was gaining momentum, judging by the experience of the Kumasi exercise on the first Saturday of this month.

Mr Debrah said, the Ministry was not only enthused about sustaining the programme, but also happy that the culture of being self-dependent in cleaning exercises was gripping the society.

He asked other corporate bodies to emulate the SSNIT’s example by supporting the programme in any way they might choose.
