Minister of Tourism Arts and Culture visits Kohwe

Veteran Ghanaian actor, Kofi Laing, known in entertainment circles as ‘Kohwe’ has revealed that some people have reached out to support him. According to him, they include the Minister of Tourism Arts and Culture, Barbara Oteng Gyasi. This follows a story The Spectator published last week, where the veteran actor urged Ghanaians not to wait for his demise before they show him love. Speaking to the paper, he disclosed that after the publication, he had received numerous calls from Ghana and abroad, where people have expressed interest in supporting his plight. he added that the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs.Barbara Oteng Gyasi, visited him on Friday to make

some donations to him. In his earlier interview, Kohwe urged leaders and Ghanaians, in general, to care about the plight of some veterans who played pivotal role in the movie industry. According to him, some of his colleagues died as paupers because there was no assistance coming from anywhere. For him, in those days, the movie industry was not rewarding in monetary terms, and against that backdrop, it was that reason those at the helm of affairs must care about their plight in old age. He also called on directors to reconsider their decision of leaving old actors to their fate, and offering their roles to young vibrant ones.
