Somanya FC Are Ngmayem Gala Lords

Somanya FC emerged winners of this year’s Manya Krobo annual Ngmayem Festival gala, after defeating Nectar FC 6-5 on penalties in the final match at Agormanya Roman Park.

Players of both teams thrilled the fans with good possessive football skills in the match which ended 1-1 during the regulation time.

The presence of former Accra Hearts of Oak and Black Stars players, Dan Quaye, Eben Dida and the financial secretary for Hearts of Oak National Chapters Committee, Ms. Gifty Addey, during the final match, boosted the players’ moral to give their spectators nothing but exciting football. SOS FC from Kpong clinched the third position after a keenly contested game with Tikitaka FC, also from Nuaso.

The winners took home a trophy, a football and a sum of GH¢1,000.00, the second team GH¢600.00 and a football; the third place team got GH¢3,000.00 and a football, while the fourth team got GH¢100.00 and a football.

Tettera Eli of SOS FC distinguished himself to emerge the Most Valuable Player and the goal king, after netting four goals in the week-long competition.

In all, 36 teams took part in the competition organized by the Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo, Mr. Ebenezer Okletey Ter-Larbi, as part of activities to commemorate this year’s Ngmayem festival.

Addressing the closing ceremony, Mr. Ter-larbi expressed joy at the quality display both teams exhibited in the competition.

He added that the gala will not be a nine day wonder, as they planned to liaised with the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. JFK Acolatse to renovate the parks and form a formidable team that would represent Eastern Region in the Ghana Premier League.
