Societe Generale Launches New Product

gilbertSociete Generale Ghana, a leading bank in the country, has introduced an innovative master card known as the Visa Gold Card which can assist customers to access free medical care whenever they travel outside the country.

The Visa Gold Card, which is worth 30,000 pounds, also covers all trips taken outside and inside Ghana when customers pay for the trip with the card.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, the Managing Director, Mr. Gilbert Hie, said the service was in line with the bank’s retail strategy to focus on the market and develop products that would satisfy customers.

According to him, the card offered a lot of convenience in terms of cash withdrawal, paying for goods and services at companies having point of sale terminals, while serving as a gateway to e-commerce with a capacity to make secured payments on the web.

The Deputy Managing Director, Mr. François Marchal , said the bank’s retail strategy was to provide a diverse mix of high quality retail products and services which were internationally competitive.

He said a few banks in Ghana offered travel insurance with medical assistance, but none offered medical assistance for trips taken inside and outside Ghana.

“In case a customer falls ill or has an accident whilst travelling, the cover of up to 30, 000 pounds will take care of the cost of hospitalisation, surgical operations, medical fees, transport costs, nursing fees and pharmaceutical products prescribed,” he said.

He further explained that customers have a cover for up to 90 days, if they were travelling over a distance of 100 kilometres from their place of residence.
