‘Sir John’ Must Face Justice

Sir John (2)The Convener of the Coalition of Ghanaian Voters, Dr Clement Apaak, has said the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, must be hauled before the Supreme Court for his unsavory attacks on the court and the person of the president of the panel of judges.

According to Dr Apaak, “the comments of the NPP General Secretary cannot be excused, especially, he being a lawyer and a leader in the opposition NPP.

“As a party leader and lawyer, his pronouncement cannot be excused, and he must face the full rigours of the law.’’
“No one is above the law,” he added.
Dr Apaak said he was not trying to tell the Supreme Court what to do, but believed “Mr. Owusu Afriyie also has questions to answer.

Dr. Apaak maintained that the comments by Mr  Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie on an Accra-based radio pro-gramme called ‘Boiling Point’, was intimidating.

Meanwhile, Justice William Atuguba, president of the panel of judges hearing the 2013 presidential election petition, on Monday, hinted that the court would consider the utterances of the NPP General Secretary, ‘Sir John’ and others for contempt.

Justice Atuguba made reference to a front-page publication by the Enquirer newspaper in which Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie was reported to have made contemptuous statements in respect of the Justices.
