About 500 Senior High School (SHS) students in the Asante-Akim South Municipality are benefiting from a free vacation classes across the municipality.

Funded by the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Alexander Frimpong and the Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Kwaku Asante Boateng, the classes would keep the students busy with their books during the holidays.

The Juaso Senior High School, Bompata Presbyterian Senior High School and Ofoase Senior High School are the centres where the classes are being held.

The beneficiary students have also received free exercise books from the MCE who has been visiting the centres to encourage them and told them to take advantage of the classes to improve on their performance and desist from unproductive activities that militated against their academic work.

He reminded them that the West African Senior Secondary Examination (WASSCE) was the most crucial exams of their lives as students and urged them to work hard to come out successful.

The MCE also entreated the teachers to give the students the best of tuition, saying they would also share in the glory should the children excel in the WASSCE.

Mr. Asante-Boateng, the MP on separate visits counseled the students to justify the investment made in them by their parents and government by taking their studies serious.

He said government had taken the financial burden of their education off the shoulders of their parents with the introduction on the Free Senior High School Programme, adding that they had no excuse not to perform.
