An Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre built for the Shama community in the Western Region with the aim of enhancing ICT education in the area, has been commissioned.
Mr. Eric Cobbina, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Shama, who commissioned the facility, called on the youth to use ICT responsibly to enhance knowledge.
The centre, which has 20 computers and one projector, is valued at GHc54, 000 and funded by the Africa ICT Right (AIR), a non-governmental organisation.
Mr. Cobbina observed that technology education was a viable way of promoting the human resource base and an infrastructural development which is advancing at a fast rate and thus requires everybody to be conversant with its use in a positive way.
He said to prevent the youth from using the computer to learn things that would be detrimental to their lives, parents, teachers and attendants of internet shops must monitor and discipline them when the need arise.
