The Shai-Osudoku District Hospital, on Wednesday stated trial health care delivery, after the health care facility was inaugurated by President John Dramani Mahama, on April 4, this year.

The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Kennedy Brightson, said it was to ensure the proper functioning of the equipment and facilities before it became fully operational.

He told The Ghanaian Times that the hospital was in perfect shape, and expressed optimism that the facility would last long to cater for the health needs of people in the Shai-Osudoku area.

The ‘first walk-in day’ was devoted for only the examination and treatment of diabetic and hypertensive patients as well as antenatal counseling for pregnant women.

Dr. Brightson noted that, the 120-capacity bed hospital provides dentistry, family planning, community psychiatry, eye clinic, theatre services and ultrasound care among others.

The ultra-modern hospital, funded by the government of the United Kingdom, through Barclays PLC, at the cost of US $ 175 dollars, and constructed by NMS Infrustructure, is the first of the seven district hospitals being built by government in some selected districts across the country to improve access to quality health care.
