Self-styled car dealer defrauds businessman

A self-styled car dealer, Nana Kwame Ohene Agyekum,  has been granted GH¢12,000 bail with two sureties by an Accra circuit court, for defrauding under the pretext of securing a businessman a Daewoo Matrix saloon car.

He pleaded not guilty to two counts of dishonestly receiving and defrauding by false pretence and would appear again before the court on October 15.

Prosecuting, Sergeant Jonas Lawer told the court presided by Mrs. Ruby N.A Quaison that on November 2016, Agyekum, who deals in car at Tesano in Accra. sold the said car for GH¢10,000 to Isaac Sompene, at his garage.

The court heard that Sompene paid the money, and the car was handed over to him, but after two months, the Techiman Police Command arrested Sompene because the car was a stolen one.

Sgt Lawer said Sompene was exonerated after investigations, and a report was made to the police leading to the arrest of Agyekum.
