Securityman stole from Tema medical stores

??????????The Tema Community Centre District Magistrate Court on Wednesday fined a 41 year old securityman GH¢960, for stealing nine pieces of metal bars from the Tema Central Medical Stores, which was recently ravaged by fire.

Samuel Nii Armah pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful entry and stealing.

The court presided over by Joseph N. MCali, fined him GH¢360 on the first count, in default he would go to jail for two months, while on the second count, he was fined GH¢600, or in default he would serve for three months in hard labour.

Prosecuting Sergeant Susana Akpeere, told the court that the convict is a security personnel who had no specific place of abode, while the complainant in the case is a police officer stationed at the Community 1 Police Station who went on guard duty at the Tema Central Medical Stores.

She said on February 16, at about 3:30 am, whilst the complainant was on duty at the Tema Medical Central Stores located in the Tema heavy industrial area, he saw the convict scaling the fence wall into the yard.

The convict stole nine pieces of metal bars valued at GH¢500 and threw them over the fence wall.

He later scaled the fence wall and tied the metal bars before carrying them away, the prosecutor said.

Luck, however eluded the convict as he was arrested by the complainant after carrying his booty a few metres away from the yard, she said.

The prosecutor said the convict was subsequently handed over to the Community 1 Police together with the exhibits.
