Kweku John, 51, appeared before a Circuit Court in Accra for allegedly defiling a 12- year old girl at Adenta on several occasions and giving her GH¢2 after each act.
John, a driver, pleaded not guilty to the charge, and the court presided by Mrs. Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku remanded him into custody to reappear on October 6.
Prosecuting, Inspector J.B Asante said the complainant is a security personnel, who resides at Adenta with his family and the victim is one of his daughters.
The court heard that said John, also known as Landlord, lives in a kiosk in the complainant’s vicinity.
Inspt. Asante said in November last year, the accused lured the victim into his kiosk and had sex with her and gave her GH¢2.
He said since then, John has had sex with the victim severally giving her GH¢2 after each act.
Recently, the prosecution said the victim’s mother, who is a witness in the case, heard rumours in the area on what was transpiring between the accused and the victim and decided to find out.
Inspector Asante said on August 10, at about 5:00pm, the victim’s mother followed the victim secretly when she sent her on an errand and saw the accused giving the victim money.
She then quizzed the victim on why she received the money and the victim narrated the ordeal she went through since July last year.
Accused was confronted and sensing danger, he went into hiding at Somanya in the Eastern Region.
A report was made to the Police who in turn issued a medical form to the victim to seek medical attention.
On September 17, accused was traced to his hideout and arrested.
