Schools in Ayawaso West deliberate­­ on promotion of education

Headmaster pix 2Head teachers in public and private schools in the Ayawaso West Sub-Metro of the Greater Accra Region have met in Accra, to discuss possible ways to improve and expand education in some communities.

It is estimated that, almost half of the youthful population in communities like Kisseman, Achimota, East Legon, Christian Village, Anumle, Dome Pillar 2 and its surrounding communities do not attend school but rather engage in all manner of social vices.

To address these challenges, Ngorli Organisation, an international NGO based in Accra committed to improving education in the country organised the meeting to develop strategies to address the problem.

Mr. Raymond Amezado, president of Ngorli Organisation, speaking at the meeting said the rationale behind the meeting was to identify the educational needs of the areas and help in solving it.

He said the organisation would be offering scholarships to brilliant but needy students and would also be sponsoring some schools and students to attain greater heights in the district.

He said it was only education that would equip the younger generation to refrain from indulging in vices and be useful to the progress of their communities.

Mr. Amezado said similar social intervention programmes in the educational sector by the organisation were successfully executed in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region and Ketu District in the Volta region.

He was hopeful their intervention would go a long way to promote and uplift the standard of education in the area and provide better future for the younger generation.

The Headmaster of Kisseman E.P. Basic School, Mr. Daniel Aziamanyo, said to improve education, there must be constant in-service training for teachers and a mechanism to ensure teacher punctuality in schools.

He commended Ngorli for the initiative in the district and called for effective collaboration between parents and school authorities in the area to ensure quality education and improvement in the standards.
