A two – day annual Inter Disciplinary Conference of the Institute of Inter Disciplinary Research and Consultancy Services has ended at the Navrongo Campus of the University of Development Studies (UDS).
It event, which was on the theme: “Science and Technology for Sustainable Development, was attended by research scientists from universities in the country, who discussed and reviewed 83 studies carried out by researchers from the UDS.
The Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, Dr. Robert Kuganab-Lem, said government was converting the country’s polytechnics into technical universities, to transform the economy.
Professor Gabriel A Teye, Vice Chancellor of the UDS regretted that government, industry and other stakeholders failed to make good use of research findings, which had been left to gather dust on the shelves.
Dr. Edward S. Mahama, Director of the Institution for Interdisciplinary Research and Consulting Service, said the institute was established in 1992 to enhance research.
According to him the institute’s agenda was driven by the UDS philosophy, which emphasises on community – based problem solving and learning approach towards development
