The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) yesterday received a GHc15,000 donation from Safrip-Ghana, an animal feed producing company, based in Tema towards the organisation of this year’s National Farmers Day.
The 32nd edition of this year’s celebration would be held on November 4 at kintampo in the Brong Ahafo region.
Presenting the donation, Charles Amedzogbe, Executive Chairman, Safrip-Ghana said, as a company that deal mostly with farmers, the donation was to recognise and appreciate farmers for their efforts in producing food for the country.
He said the company was proud to associate with a group like farmers that surmount all obstacles to contribute to the development of the country.
Mr. Amedzogbe was of the hope that the donation would encourage farmers to continue to work for the betterment of the country.
Expressing gratitude to Safrip-Ghana for their donation, Deputy Minister, MoFA and Chairman of the 32nd National Farmers Day Planning Committee, Alhaji Ahmed Alhassan Yakubu said the Ministry, as a promoter of Agriculture in the country, was committed to the welfare of farmers, who have toiled throughout the year to cultivate food for the whole populace.
He noted that the occasion was to honour deserving farmers who have persistently worked to satisfy the food needs of Ghanaians as well creating employment opportunities.
Mr. Yakubu reiterated the need to recognise and celebrate farmers and appealed to corporate Ghana to step forward with their donations towards the honouring of farmers.
