Sacrifice to win heart of Ghanaians again – Polo tells Black Stars

Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed Polo, former player of the Black Stars, has said, the current members of the Black Stars have not exhibited enough sacrifice for the nation, hence their inability to win back the heart of Ghanaians.

He said the performance of the team at the 2019 AFCON, was a clear indication that, the nation did not learn from the challenges of the team at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The Black Stars were eliminated from the ongoing AFCON after losing 5-4 on penalties to Tunisia in the round of 16 of the competition.

The dribbling magician told the GNA that “the players didn’t show enough patriotism. They only think of collecting huge money from the country, but were unaware of the expectations of the tax payer.

“Their aim shouldn’t be about money anytime they get the chance to represent the country. They should think about how they can sacrifice for the nation by playing their hearts out without monetary considerations and that is the only way they can win back the love from Ghanaians.

“If you work hard and the country would reward you, but the moment people get the impression that you are out for money, then you fail to get their support” he added.

The former Hearts of Oak star said, the players should think of how they can continue the good legacy of Ghana football rather than captainship and money. –GNA
