Sackey excels in cycling championship

An electrifying piece of sprinting by fast-rising national cyclist, Isaac Sackey saw him emerge as the winner of the Cowbell Velocity Cycling Challenge held on Sunday.

The 109km race attracted about 60 cyclists from across the country with Sackey finishing the race in a time of 3:16:51 secs to win the ultimate prize.

The 25-year-old from Sky Cycling Club took home GH¢800, medal, trophy as well as products from Cowbell.

He was followed by Michael Agbugblah of Gutin Cycling Club in second position.

Fifteen-year old Gutin rider, Solomon Tagoe recorded a time of 3:16:58 secs to win the third position.

Marketing Manager of Promasidor Ghana Limited (producers of Cowbell), Joseph Ashong congratulated the winners and organisers for their effort in ensuring a successful event.

The event, he said, was used to launch the Cowbell Cycling Festival slated for September 14-17 at Kumasi.

Coordinator at Velocity Cycling Club, Kwamena Larbi is optimistic that Ghana would be represented by a cyclist at the next Olympic Games if the right resources are put in place.
