Robbery gangs strike at Ho

David KwesiTWO armed robbery raids at Ho on Monday evening, has left the municipality reeling in fear and insecurity.

Briefing The Ghanaian Times yesterday, the Regional Police Commander, Mr. P. Y. Gyinae, said that in the first instance, six men wielding guns and machetes attacked a resident of New Housing, Mr. Kofi Selinan, in his shop at about 8 p.m. and made away unspecified amount of money, and cellular recharge vouchers worth GH¢318.80.

In the other raid, four men wearing masks, attacked a teacher, Mr Bright Agbesi in his house at the RTC Park at about midnight and inflicted machete wounds on his right breast, wrists and one of his fingers, before collecting four cellular phones and unspecified amount of money from him.

In a similar incident last Saturday, armed men attacked Womtumi Taki, a popular businessman at New Housing, and inflicted machete wounds on him before bolting with his GH¢8,000.

In a swift response, the police arrested 18 suspects in connection with the robberies, four of who were identified at parade yesterday morning at the Regional Police Headquarters, by some victims of the robberies.

Mr. Gyinae urged the public to be vigilant and assist the police by volunteering information on suspicious characters to them promptly.

He assured that the police would act swithly on information from the public on criminals.
