Armed robbers in the early hours of yesterday attacked and robbed the Central Regional Office of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), after over-powering the only securityman on duty.
The robbers, said to be seven in number, made away with GH¢3,000 which was in the office of the accountant and a power bank.
They could not, however, break into the safe located in the regional manager’s office.
The robbers, after threatening the securityman with death, ransacked all the seven offices and scattered documents on the floor in their robbery expedition.
Briefing newsmen in Cape Coast the Central Regional Manager of DVLA, Emmanuel Klugah, said the robbers tied the securityman after overpowering him before gaining access into the offices.
He said it took the intervention of another security officer from a nearby company to untie the security personnel before a patrol team arrived at the scene.
The security man he said, was admitted to the Central Regional Hospital to where he was rushed by the patrol team for sustaining injuries.
Mr. Klugah said the office had lodged a formal complaint with the police and was assisting the police with their investigations.
