Thousands of newspaper readers surveyed in a nation-wide call for nominations have unanimously voted for Mrs. Kate Quartey-Papafio, CEO of the Reroy Group as Businesswoman of the Year in the first ever Ghana Economic Forum Excellence Awards. The readers’ nominations coincided with the votes of a cross section ofGhana’s business community, captains of industry and public servants who had gathered in Accra for this year’s Ghana Economic Forum.
At a ceremony in Accra, Mrs. Quartey-Papafio was presented with a plaque by Mrs. Edith Dankwa, CEO of Business & Financial Times, whose company, jointly with Price Waterhouse Coopers, organized the Forum and the survey.
The Ghana Economic Forum Excellence Awards covers all sectors, including Aerospace & Defence, Banking, Chemicals, Conglomerates, Electronics, Energy, Financial Services, Health Products & Services, Hospitality & Leisure, Legal, Manufacturing, Real Estate, Pharmaceuticals and Telecommunications.
Other winners were Dalex Finance, Business Of The Year; Kenneth Thompson, Businessman Of The Year; Mike Nyinaku, Entrepreneur Of The Year; Databank, Business Pioneer Of The Year and Uniliver, which was recognized as Business With A Conscience.
Started in 2012, the Ghana Economic Forum is a private sector led initiative and platform created by Business & Financial Times to bring together captains of industry and thought leaders to discuss and debate key issues affecting the Ghanaian economy.
Recommendations from the Forum are annually distributed to key stakeholders for possible policy adoption.
