REGSEC beefs up security in Bunkprugu

The Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC), has beefed up security in the Nanjon Number One, in the Bunkprugu District, following Sunday’s shooting incident there.

The Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Patrick Adusei, who announced this to the press here, yesterday, in Tamale, indicated that a combined team of police and military personnel were dispatched to the community, to prevent any escalation of violence.

Some unidentified gunmen in the late hours of Sunday stormed Nanjon Market square and fired at the people leading to the death of four persons, and injuring of ten others, including children.

DCOP Adusei said though calm has returned to the community, there was the urgent need to beef up security, and stressed that the security personnel would do everything possible to arrest the perpetrators of the shooting.

He hinted that special investigators were expected from Accra to help in investigations.

The regional police commander said security personnel deployed in the area were given firm instructions to deal ruthlessly with any trouble rouser in the community.

He stressed that the security personnel would intensify patrols in Nanjon and other surrounding communities, to ensure that criminals and other trouble makers were flushed out.
