More than 200 people have been rendered homeless and about 50 houses destroyed after a rainstorm hit Tanyigbe Atidze and surrounding villages in the Ho Municipality.
The rain, which started around 4.30 pm on Thursday and lasted two hours, destroyed several property.
The most affected ones were the EP Church, Ghana building, Roman Catholic classroom block, and other buildings.
As at the time The Ghanaian Times got to the town some of the affected people were seen drying their personal belongings and important documents destroyed by the rain.
Also, there was power outage as the main electric cables in the town were destroyed by the rainstorm.
Togbe Kwami Adrikpanya Agubretu V, Dufia of the town advised the affected people to make sure not to touch any loose electric wires in their homes, since it could be dangerous.
He said most of the affected persons were currently staying with their relatives and friends.
According to Togbe Agubretu, the town had not experienced such a heavy rainfall for a long time.
He said that officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) from Ho were in the town to access the extent of damage caused to lives and property.
He however urged the NADMO and other well-meaning organisations to come to their aid.
