A ruthless-looking German national side last Friday whitewashed Ghana’s Black Queens 11-0 in a friendly match played on in Paderborn.
The floodgate was crashed as early as the first minute through Anja Mittag who outwitted the defenders.
Mittag went on to score three more goals in the demotion exercise.
By the half hour mark, the Queens were down 6-0 with other goals from Dzenifer Marozsan, Alexandra Popp, a Cynthia Adobea, Saskia Bartusiak and Sara Daebritz.
A hat-trick from Mittag gave the Germans a 9-0 lead at half time.
After the break, goals from Mandy Islacker (66th) and Dzenifer Marozsan (90 +1) sealed the heavy win.
The friendly was showed live on national television and watched by 6,243 spectators at the Benteler Arena.
The German press after the game described the performance of the Ghanaians as “truly awful.”
Head coach Silvia Neid and her team will go into their Olympic Games opener against Zimbabwe on on August 3 in Sao Paulo with a lot of confidence.
They will also play Australia (August 6) and Canada (August 9) in the Group.
