‘Protect nation’s democratic gains’

scan0029The electorate have been urged not to destroy the good image the nation has gained in its democratic dispensation.

They must therefore desist from engaging in acts that have the tendency to inflame passions during the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Madam Shirley Naana Osei-Ampem, National Democratic Congress aspiring parliamentary candidate for Lowest West Akim Constituency gave the advice at a ceremony for the construction of a GH¢1.6 million new 76-unit block of lockable stores at Asamankese.

The project which will also have toilets, urinals and a mechanised borehole, is being undertaken by DITRAC Limited, an Accra-based construction firm, and funded by the Urban Development Grant (UDG), under the Local Government Capacity Support Project.

The aspirant urged the people to conduct themselves decently to ensure a free, fair, transparent and incident-free general elections, to help sustain the peace the country was enjoying.

She urged the West Akim Municipal Assembly to endeavour to attach a crèche and kindergarten to the building to enable the traders’ children have access to early education and pledged to access the MASLOC funds for the market women.

The ceremony was performed by Mr. George Mensah Akpalu and Baffour Awuakye Bempong, the Municipal Chief Executive and Asamankese amanehene respectively.
