Top American boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn, claims Tyson Fury is finished and should be stripped of his world heavyweight titles.
He says governing bodies – the WBA and WBO are entitled to take away Fury’s belts because he postponed his rematch with Wladimir Klitschko – already rescheduled once from the original July date – again, for mental health reasons.
Hearn also blames Fury’s team for not looking after him properly and doubts the unbeaten ‘Traveller’ will ever be back in the ring.
“I don’t believe he will fight again,” said the Matchroom boxing chief. “I believe Tyson Fury will be stripped of all his titles.
“They could be put into recess, which I think they will do, which is the same thing.
“It’s not a case of ‘Oh, that’s a bit harsh given his problems.”
“This is a business for the governing bodies as well, and they’ve had enough.
“The world heavyweight title is a huge part of the governing bodies’ business — they are suffering.
“I know it is not PC to say certain things but, I’m sorry, the people behind him and the people guiding him are also responsible for what has happened.”
Hearn says Fury looked totally out of shape when he saw him at Manchester Arena on Saturday night, supporting his cousin Hosea Burton as he fought on the undercard of Jorge Linares’ win over Anthony Crolla.
“He got booed after the Burton fight,” he said. “His credibility is at rock bottom.”
Hearn added Klitschko could face Anthony Joshua next year after the IBF champ’s November 26 defence – which will probably be against Joseph Parker of New Zealand.
