President Mahama given thumbs up

President MahamaThe Deputy National Women Organizer of the National Democratic Congress, (NDC), Dr. Catharine Denu, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for giving women the opportunity to serve in his government.

Saying that it would go a long way to ensure gender balance and the emancipation of women in the country.

In an interaction with the Ghanaian Times yesterday, Dr. Denu noted that the role of women in national development was vital.

She therefore appealed to women serving in the Mahama-led administration and for that matter the NDC to live up to expectations.

She also charged women to take up the crusade for gender equality and female empowerment in order to position them in the decision making process.

She further called on women and other stakeholders to promote girl-child education so as to curb teenage pregnancy and reduce the high rate of school dropout among girls.

She urged women and the vulnerable in society to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme to enable them gain access quality health care anytime they fall ill.
