PPP van crashes 3 to death at Salaga

Three persons died on the spot when a Progressive People Party (PPP) pick up vehicle run into them at a farming community near Salaga in the East Gonja district of the Northern Region yesterday.

Five others were also injured in the accident.

The Northern Regional Police Public Relation Officer (PRO), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ebenezer Tetteh, confirmed the incident to The Ghanaian Times.

The bodies of the deceased, identified as Umar Abu, Salifu Mohammed and Euda Malako, were released to their family members for burial in accordance with Muslim tradition, while the injured were taken to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for treatment.

The Police PRO said the vehicle was heading towards Bujia from Salaga for a rally when the accident occurred, adding that the course of the accident was yet to be established and police had commenced investigation into the accident

ASP Tetteh said the driver of the vehicle was in the police custody helping in the investigation.

He said that the PPP presidential aspirant had been in the Eastern corridor campaigning for votes.
