Police swoop on 43 suspected criminals

Forty-three suspected criminals have been nabbed in a swoop by the Rapid Deployment Force and Formed Police Unit at the Madina REDCO flats and Kwabenya, both in Accra.

Items retrieved included quantities of Indian hemp and unregistered motorbikes, which have been impounded.

The operation was meant to clamp down on criminal activities in the areas, following several complaints from residents about constant robberies and stealing of their valuables in the said areas.

The Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Effia Tenge told the Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday.

The Police PRO said the suspects were currently in the custody of the police assisting in investigations.

She said they would be screened and those found culpable would be put before court.

ASP Tenge assured of the police commitment in reducing the crime wave in the country.

She called on the public to provide reliable information to the police to help clamp down on criminal activities in the country.
