Abubakar Sadique died out of multiple wounds after he was stabbed severally in a revenge attack at the party’s constituency office by other supporters believed to belong to a rival faction.

Five people including the NPP chairman of the constituency, Isaac Kwaku Brenya, were arrested. Kwaku Brenya has since been granted bail whiles the other four,-Bawah Musah, Luis Mensah, Zakaria Seidu, and Hajia Wasila Gariba, Deputy Women’s Organiser are currently standing trial at the Asokwa Magistrate Court.

However, Duna and the other suspects fled.

Giving the police update on the murder, DCOP Kofi Boakye said at about 8.30 a.m., on that fateful day, the constituency chairman, Isaac Brenya in the company of Luis Mensah, Osman Issah, Zakaria Seidu and Mallam Immurama, went to open the constituency party office which had been locked by some disgruntled youth of the party to prevent the chairman from accessing it, following a disagreement that had degenerated into a feud.

In the process, a group of supporters, including Saddiq, Awal Tourez, Awal Mohammed and Tanko Abubakar, all of Sabon Zongo, on motor bikes confronted them, vandalised the office and assaulted Zakaria Seidu.

DCOP Boakye said the chairman, on hearing that, accompanied the victims to the Airport police station to lodge a complaint and the police followed up to the scene.

When the police got there, they saw about 50 youth armed with machetes, clubs, stones and other offensive weapons, chanting ‘Brenya must go, Brenya must go’.

“As soon as they saw Brenya, the irate youth rushed towards him, but the police quickly whisked him away and called for re-enforcement,” DCOP Boakye said, adding that when the re-enforcement was approaching, the mob quickly dispersed.

The police noticed that the party office had been totally vandalised and about 75 metres away, the body of Saddiq, also known as Ogundi, was found lying in a pool of blood with a knife wound on the left side of the chest.

DCOP Boakye said the policemen took charge of the area and posted men all over the constituency to prevent further disturbances.

He said intelligence work revealed that Duna was the one who stabbed Saddiq with the knife after he, together with Bigman and Ali Isaah (Liboo), had chased him into an allay, adding that Liboo allegedly fired twice at Saddiq, but missed.

DCOP Boakye indicated that Brenya and Osman had allegedly hired thugs to protect the party office and the thugs were brought in two taxis and on a motorbike.

In the cause of the confusion Brenya, Bawa Musah, Bigman and Liboo who was wielding a pistol chased the victim who was also wielding an axe through a narrow lane.

He said Mohammed Duna came from nowhere and stabbed Saddiq in the chest and he fell on a blind old woman sitting in front of her door and died. Duna, then dropped the knife at the scene, picked the deceased‘s axe and they left.
